Hayley + Yimin
A wedding starting at Terranea Resort for prep, then we crossed the street to Catalina View Gardens for the ceremony, and went across the town to the Palos Verdes Art Center for reception. <3
Non-Binary Artsy Coastal Wedding in Palos Verdes | Hayley + Yimin at Catalina View Gardens
Hayley and Yimin’s wedding day unfolded across some of the most beautiful coastal locations in Palos Verdes, blending art, nature, and quiet intention. Centered at Catalina View Gardens, their celebration felt laid-back, creative, and deeply grounded, the kind of wedding that lets moments breathe.
As Los Angeles wedding photographers, we love photographing weddings in Palos Verdes. The light, the ocean, and the sense of space create an atmosphere that feels calm and expansive at the same time.
A Day That Shifted, but Never Lost Its Meaning
Originally, Hayley and Yimin planned to exchange vows at Wayfarers Chapel. When the venue closed just two months before their wedding, they pivoted with grace and flexibility. Catalina View Gardens opened its doors, and what could have felt like a compromise instead became a beautiful reimagining of the day.
The result was a wedding that felt organic and intentional, shaped by presence rather than perfection.
Getting Ready Along the Coast
Hayley prepared for the day at Terranea Resort, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The views, the quiet pace, and the coastal light set a calm tone before the ceremony. Those moments by the water added a softness that carried through the rest of the day.
Catalina View Gardens Ceremony
Set above the coastline, Catalina View Gardens offers sweeping ocean views and a sense of openness that’s rare. The natural landscape did most of the work, framing the ceremony with sky, sea, and subtle movement from the breeze.
Hayley and Yimin’s style leaned retro-inspired and art-forward, which paired beautifully with the venue’s understated elegance. Nothing felt overdone. The focus stayed on connection, emotion, and the experience of being there together.
Celebration at the Palos Verdes Art Center
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at the Palos Verdes Art Center. Surrounded by art and clean architectural lines, the reception reflected the couple’s creative spirit and love for spaces that feel intentional.
They danced to So Beautiful by DPR IAN, a moment that felt intimate and expressive, even as the room filled with energy from friends and family.
Photographing Artsy Weddings in Palos Verdes
Throughout the day, our focus was on:
Candid laughter and in-between moments
Letting the coastal environment shape the imagery
Capturing movement, texture, and quiet connection
Preserving the feeling of the day rather than forcing moments
Palos Verdes is especially well-suited for weddings like this, ones that value atmosphere, artistry, and emotional honesty over spectacle.
